“Interfaith Panel on Fasting in Abrahamic Traditions.”
The Intercultural Dialogue Institute Edmonton organized a panel on Fasting in Abrahamic Traditions. The attendees included academics, cultural community leaders, religious community leaders, educators, and representatives from NGO’s, members of Beth Israel Synagogue, members of the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and Edmonton Muslim community. Speakers for the panel were Rabbanit Batya Friedman, Beth Israel Synagogue – The Family Shul, Mr. Julien Hammond, Coordinator of Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations and Mrs. Jawdah Jorf, Principal of Edmonton Islamic Academy. The topic of the panel was “Fasting in Abrahamic Traditions.” It was a very successful and informative panel. Attendees had a chance to ask their questions during Q&A Session. After the panel IDI Edmonton volunteers served fast breaking dinner. It was a very special day since various faith groups also fasted during the day to feel the enjoyment of fast breaking dinner all together.
