5 MPs and 1 Senator attended the Parliamentary Trip to Turkey Anatolian Heritage Federation organized a 8 day trip to Turkey collaboration with Dave Van Kesteren, Chairman of Canada Turkey Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group. Besides visiting the historical places and natural beauties of Turkey, the Delegation had also an opportunity to meet with the NGOs, Faith Leaders and Business Organizations.
One of the key moments during the trip was the visit to the President Gul at the Çankaya Presidential Palace.
During the visit, President Gul emphasized Turkey’s emphasis upon her relations with Canada with which he remembered Turkey has worked hand in hand for the peace and prosperity of Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) as two allies in NATO, adding that Turkey and Canada are active members of the G-20 as well.
Some of topics which were covered during the visit were the great potential in the Turkish-Canadian economic relations and volume of trade, Syrian Conflict and Syrian Refugees, and ways to improve bilateral relations.
MP Dave Van Kasteren said the information and impressions he had obtained during his visit to Turkey helped him get to know Turkey better, adding that both countries can boost their existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation on the basis of their shared values and ideals.
