IDI Edmonton organized its 9th Annual Dialogue and Friendship Dinner at Fairmont MacDonald Hotel in Edmonton. This year’s theme was Responsible Citizenship and Social Cohesion. United Way Edmonton was the charitable partner of the event. The night began with welcoming remarks and reading of greeting messages from various dignitaries, including Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper and Mayor Don Iveson (brought by Councillor Amarjeet Sohi). It was continued on with remarks provided by Premier Alison Redford. Premier Redford commended the activities of IDI in Alberta and underlined the importance of raising ‘Responsible Citizens’. Ron Mandel, former Mayor of Edmonton, gave a keynote address of the evening concerning citizenship in multicultural society. The event served approximately 180 attendees from all walks of life,including 25 MLAs, the members of the government, bureaucrats, business people, media members, professors, religious and community leaders.
