“3 families from 3 different religions meet on an iftar dinner’’ Intercultural table : Food that gathers
Every year, IDI Montreal organizes family meetings and promotes dialogue by bringing together different cultures and traditions. The “Meet your neighbors” program is an initiative of Intercultural Dialogue Institute whose primary objective is to promote dialogue and cultural exchange as well as positive action in our society for a better ‘’living-together’’. Since for our Muslim fellow citizens, it is customary to share supper at sunset with guests at home, IDI Montreal matched hosting families with individuals or / and visiting families with hosting families in the month of Ramadan. CBC television channel was interested in the initiative and took part of the evening by shooting the dinner. Jack Jedwab, Chair of Metropolis Streering committee was at the dinner with his family and said that the ‘’food is what is the most universal way of communicating’’.
